Start your day out right with a Blueberry Banana & Chia smoothie! I think I love smoothies so much because they have an ice cream shake-like consistency - something that is almost void of my life now since finding out I couldn't eat dairy anymore 4 years ago.
This smoothie is so delicious and packs a powerful punch of healthiness! If you aren't familiar with Chia seeds, it's time to get acquainted. Chia seeds actually help block the calorie absorption from certain foods, therefore promoting weight loss. They also absorb 10X their weight in water making you feel fuller, faster. Chia seeds reduce blood pressure, slow down the absorption of carbohydrates (great for diabetics!), are jam packed with Omega-3s and don't need to be ground up like flaxseeds for your body to break them down. It's a powerful little seed!
Obviously blueberries provide antioxidant qualities and bananas are high in potassium, making this a great drink for after a workout. It also has a little protein in it making it a complete meal. If you want, throw in a handful of spinach (I promise you won't even taste it) for an extra healthy treat! If you want to take it to the next level pour into a wine glass for sophistication.

1/2 cup - 1 cup almond milk
2 tbsp. chia seeds, whole or ground
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 whole banana
1 tbsp. peanut butter or almond butter
In a high powered blender, pour almond milk and chia seeds and let rest for 2 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. You may add more or less milk depending on how thick you like your smoothie. I like mine thick so I did less milk. Pour into a pretty glass and enjoy your smoothie!
