What a fabulous weekend in Wyoming!
We had a very busy weekend that was full of wedded bliss and snow! First we attended my husband's longtime friend's wedding in Pinedale. It was a beautiful wedding with good food, great company, and if I must say....delicious cake! Yes, I made my first wedding cake. That is honestly the main reason why I haven't been blogging because every spare minute has been taken up by making a wedding (and awesome groom's) cake.
I'm so incredibly happy for our dear friends Lou and Shelby! Lou was very dashing in his vest and teal tie and Shelby was absolutely gorgeous in her Grecian style wedding dress and diamond drop earrings.

Snowboarding groom's cake and rustic wedding cake
This is the best picture I got of the wedding cake. It was so much fun to make and would make another one in a heartbeat...although, for the next few weeks, I'd be ok not seeing anything related to cakes....(think, frosting, flour, sugar.....) It was a looong process, but so worth it! And DANG, that thing was HEAVY!
Lou (and Shelby) love to snowboard and Lou runs a ranch with thousands of sheep so we thought a snowboarding/sheep cake would be appropriate. This was even more fun to make than the wedding cake. My kids had fun also watching me make all the little sheep figurines. My inspiration for the sheep was from the British comedy Shaun the Sheep. If you haven't seen the show yet and you have kids, see it! It's hilarious!
Cutting the cake. So proud....*tear*
After a delicious dinner, some crazy dancing, and a few drinks, we headed to our hotel room for the night. The kids wanted to swim, but that didn't happen after the long day we had. Plus, we needed our rest to get up for 8:00 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Peace and then for a day of snow machining at our family's cabin in the mountains.
We made got up early for breakfast and thought the kids were doing good running on 7 hours of sleep (normally they get 10-12). We got to Mass and all my kids had a meltdown in the crying room, which wouldn't be the first time that has happened but because Josh and I were also running on little to no sleep, it made Mass a little more stressful than a typical Sunday.
We made it through church then headed up to the Upper Green River Lakes area.
Holy Snow.

This picture was about 10-15 miles on the main road from where our cabin sits. You can see the delineator posts on the side. This was the most snow my husband has seen up in the area ever. Now that seems crazy seeing that we live at 6,800 feet elevation, but we also live in a desert so we average only 9 inches of moisture per year. The crazy thing is that Josh's grandpa who's had their cabin for almost 40 years has also never seen this much snow...he's in his 70's!
Now we had heard that where our cabin sits they recently got 6 feet of snow. Check out the following pictures!

Pulling into the Bridger-Teton parking lot. See the barely visible sign...
Looking out the front door of the cabin. Josh had to dig down steps so we could get in. You couldn't see out a single window, they were all covered in snow!
See the roof line? I was standing down on the steps my husband shoveled out and I wasn't even standing on the bottom step.
See that green and black M1000? That's my husband's early birthday present from me <3
Josh was riding and got the snow machine stuck. As he tried to get it out, it sunk to the ground. The hole was eventually over Josh's head (he's 6ft). I'm not really sure how he got he snow machine unstuck, but he was exhausted when he got back to the cabin.
We are heading up next weekend for the whole weekend to play in the snow! Thank you God for all the moisture!
Have a fabulous day!
